Hi there! I'm Sarah Bartz, and I am a Middle School Art Teacher and Artist in Roseville, CA. I have been teaching for over 2 years, but have been creating for as long as I can remember. I began my career path as an artist and teacher after graduating from California State University Chico in 2018, when I packed my bags from my home in Anchorage, AK and headed to sunny California where I taught in Title one schools, suburban schools of over 1600 students, and even a Creative Arts Summer Program. Now, 2 years later, my husband and I recently decided it was time to live closer to family, so we recently moved back to the Sacramento area, and I am now teaching Middle School Visual Arts for the Center Joint Unified School District.
Over the course of my teaching career, I have had the opportunity to teach visual art to hundreds of children from all socioeconomic statuses, backgrounds, and abilities. I began my teaching career in a rural, Title 1 school in Oroville, CA and am now currently teaching at two Elementary Schools that use PBIS as a school wide initiative to help students foster positive behavior management. I am incredibly passionate about modeling my own artistic abilities as a way to inspire and instill a love for the visual arts in each one of my students. I consider myself beyond lucky that I get to live out my passion every single day at my job.
As I am a few years into my teaching career, I plan to begin painting small murals around my school and school district. In addition to teaching and painting murals, I also paint and construct artwork based around natural sustainability. During my undergrad courses, I took to specifically studying Environmental Sciences and Sustainability which continues to be a growing passion and business of mine.
